Centranthus ruber

I just love this plant. The are two shades of pink. This is one and the other is called 'red' though it is a dark pink.

This plant is very hardy. It grows large tuber-like roots which contain all its nourishment and allow it to last and last even in difficult places. It will happily grow in the garden, or in nooks and crannies in stone walls etc.

Doc Martin
If you have seen the show 'Doc Martin' set in Cornwall, England, check out the stone wall near Doc's surgery. You will see this plant growing there. What an advertisement for a tough hardy plant.

Once you get this plant growing, you will be right. It self sows, giving you new little plants around the garden. You can transplant these or give them away, or just let them grow where they blow. I like this about them.
